ECNL Regional League Announcement

ECNL Announces New Regional League For 2020-2021

The ECNL Girls will be adding a new league to its growing platform of Regional Leagues, as the ECNL Girls Regional League – Heartland Conference will begin play in the 2020-21 season. The ECNL Girls Regional League – Heartland will include competition at the U14, U15, U16 and U17 age groups.

ECNL Girls Regional Leagues are designed to service a deeper player pool from member clubs within the ECNL Girls, and to provide a competitive platform for objective evaluation of new clubs for full ECNL membership in the future.  Top performing teams in ECNL Girls Regional Leagues currently earn the opportunity to compete in the Open Cup Division of the ECNL Playoffs in June at the U15, U16 and U17 ages, where they will match up against other ECNL Girls Regional League teams as well as teams from the full ECNL.

The participating clubs will be:

Elite Girls Academy

Sporting Iowa

Kansas City Scott Gallagher (KCSG)

KC Athletics

Missouri Rush

St Louis Scott Gallagher (SLSG)

The EGA Technical Director Marcus Kelcher had this to say:

“Elite Girls Academy is excited to be a part of the newly formed ECNL Regional League – Heartland Conference. The opportunity to provide ECNL competition to more of our membership is exciting and will allow us to further increase our ability to develop players within the best platform in the country. We look forward to working alongside the other clubs in this new Regional League opportunity.”

2020 Boys Winter College ID Camp

On Saturday, February 1st, 82 soccer players will take part in the Winter 2020 Boys College ID Camp in partnership with Gretna Soccer Club.

Building on the EBA and Gretna NPL partnership the two clubs have come together to provide a unique recruiting opportunity for boys players in Nebraska. Over 30 College Programs from all levels of play will be in attendance.

EBA Technical Director Chris Dunford said "it was the next logical step for the relationship between ourselves and Gretna. The NPL partnership has allowed our boys players in certain ages to experience that level of play and now this ID Camp has proved a real pull for Colleges to attend and shows what can be achieved when people work together".

Gretna Director of Coaching Mitch Kavanagh said "it has been an exciting few months for our boys programs. The NPL collaboration set the tone and showed what can be done by working together and the ID Camp is another example. We are bringing together the highest amount of Collegiate programs that this area has seen for a boys ID event and believe the quality on display will be very high."

2019 was a fantastic inaugural year for our Elite Girls Academy WPSL team.  This special group of young ladies not only won the conference in their first year of competing in the Heartland Conference but also contributed to the team earning Franchise Of The Year honors.

Rachael Thigpen (Midland University / Keeper) won Defensive Player Of The Year and the club was also recognized as having one of top social media accounts in the entire league.

On behalf of Elite Academy, we would like to congratulate the players and staff on a tremendous season.
